THE BUSINESS EXERCISE





THE BUSINESS EXERCISE AT SIMS



THE SECOND DAY AT THE SYMBIOSIS WOULD BE THE DAY I WOULD NEVER FORGET. I EARNED MONEY BY LITERRALY STANDING FOR ALMOST FIVE HOURS.



WELL LET ME START FROM THE STARTING THE DAY STARTRTED WITH PROF. KAMATH'S LECTURE. IN THE LECTURE HE INTRODUCED ABOUT HIMSELF. HOW HE JOINED SIMS. HE TOLD US ABOUT THE GREAT COMPANIES IN WHICH HE HAS WORKED. THEN HE ASKED US WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A CEO AND A NORMAL CORPORATE PERSON. AFTER ALL THAT HE CAME TO THE MAIN TASK FOR THE DAY. HE TOLD US THAT WE HAVE TO MAKE OUR BUDDIES , AND WORK IN A BUDDY SYSTEM. WE FORMED OUR BUDDIES. BECAME BUDDY WITH SHIREEN SINGH.



THEN WE WERE GIVEN A TASK THAT THE WHOLE BATCH HAS TO GO TO THE CAMP AREA WHICH IS ALMOST 14 KM FROM THE COLLEGE. WE NEED TO SEARCH SOME KIND OF JOB THERE FOR ONE DAY AND AS A GROUP THE MINIMUM WE WERE SUPPOSED TO EARN WAS 200 RUPEES, WITHOUT SPENDIND WITHOUT INVESTING ANY AMOUNT OF MONEY.



WE WERE ALLOWED TO LEAVE FOR OUR DESTINATION AT 9 : 40 A.M. . THERE WAS A LOT OF RUSH AS EVERYBODY FROM THE BATCH WAS ON THE ROAD SEARCHING FOR A VEHICLE THAT COULD DROP THEM TO THE CAMP AREA. MY PARTNER AND I DECIDED TO MOVE A LITTLE FURTHER SO THAT WE CAN GET A LIFT. AFTER A LOT OF EFFORT WE GOT AN OPEN JEEP THAT TOOK US TO THE HIGHWAY AND AFTER THAT WE GOT AN ARMY JEEP AND WE GOT TO OUR DESTINATION THE CAMP AREA. THEN WE STARTED OUR SEARCH FOR A JOB.



FIRSTLY WE WENT TO BARISTA COFFEE OUTLET.THERE THE MANAGER WAS NOT PRESENT. SO WE TRIED TO ENQOURE IF SOMEONE ELSE COULD HELP IN GETTING A JOB. IN THAT QUEST WE WENT TO A HOTEL AURA TOWERS. THERE TOO THERE WAS THE SAME PROBLEM THERE BOTH THE MANAGERS WERE NOT PRESENT. SO THE LADY GAVE US A LEAD TO GO TO THE RADHA KRISHNA RESTRAUNT AND FINALLY WE GOT A MANAGER THERE, HE WAS VERY COOPERATIVE. HE TOLD US HE WOULD HAVE HAPPILY GIVEN US A JOB FOR ONE DAY BUT TODAY HE HAS SOMEKIND OF INSPECTION GOING ON SO HE HAS TO HAVE HIS ON ROLL EMPLOYEES IN THE RESTRAUNT. THEN HE GAVE US A LEED TO GO TO COFFEE HOUSE. WE BOTH WENT THERE BUT SOME HOW COULDN'T GET A JOB THERE. THEN WE CHANGED OUR APPROACH AND STARTED LOOKING FOR SOME RETAIL OUTLETS ON THE ROADSIDE. WE GOT SOME INTRESTING COMMENTS FROM THEM. ONE OF THE OWNERS SAID THAT HE HASN'T HAD A COSTOMER FOR THE LAST TWO -THREE DAYS WHAT HE GIVE US EVEN IF HE EMPLOYES US. AFTER THAT WITHOUT GETTING DISHEARTENED WE WENT TO MCCDONALDS WITH FULL HOPES THAT THEY WILL GIVE US A LOB TO WORK FOR A DAY. THE EMPLOYEES THERE WERE VERY COOPERATIVE AS THEY ARE ALWAYS. THERE INCAHARGE CALLED UP HER MANAGER TO CONFIRM WHETHER WE WILL BE ALLOWED TO WORK OR NOT BUT THEN CAME THE ANSWER THAT SORRY WE USE TO EMPLOYEE PEOPLE LIKE THIS FOR ONE DAY BUT NOW IT HAS BEEN STOPPED. SO WE STARTED LOOKING OUT FOR NEW OPPORTUNITIES. THEN O FOUND THAT THERE IS A FLOWERIST AT THE SGS MALL. I TOOK HIS BOSS' NUMBER AND I HAD A TALK WITH HER, I TOLD HER THAT WE ARE ON A PROJECT AND IN THAT PROJECT WE NEED TO WORK FOR A DAY SOMEWHERE IN THE CAMP AREA AND SPREADING HAPPINESS IN THE DIFFERENT FAMILIES BY MAKING THEM UNDERSTAND WHAT DIFFERENCE A SMALL BUNCH OF FLOWERS CAN MAKE. SHE SAID THAT SHE IS READY TO GIVE JOB BUT SHE WAS READY TO GIVE Rs.150 BUT THAT WAS BELOW THE MINIMUM GROUP EARNING AMOUNT. SO WE TRIED TO CONVINCE HER, THEN SHE TOLD US TO CALL BACK AFTER SOME TIME. SINCE TIME WAS RUNNING AND WE NEEDED TO GET A JOB AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. SO WE RUSHED TO NEW INDIA ASSURANCE COMPANY . SINCE I HOLD A INSUANCE AGENT LICENCE SO I TRIED IF I COULD FIND A DATA ENTRY JOB OR SOMETHING IN A WAY THAT WE CAN HELP THEM, BUT IT IS A GOVERNMENT OWEND COMPANY AND THEY REFUSED TO HELP US IN ANY WAY. AFTER THAT WE AGAIN CALLED UP THE OWNER OF THAT FLOWER SHOP. WE WERE SOMEHOW ABLE TO CONVINCE HER AND SHE AGREED TO PAY US Rs. 200 . SO WE HAD A JOB IN HAND AT 11:00 .



WE STARTED WORKING GREETING CUSTOMERS AND TRYING TO ATTRACT THEM TO THE FLOWER SHOP.WE GOT OUR FIRST CUSTOMER VERY EARLY IN THE DAY. WE WERE ABLE TO SELL A BOUQUET TO HER. GETTING ENTHUSIASTIC AFTER OUR FIRST SALES WE WERE WORKING WITH FULL DEVOTION. MANY PEOPLE WERE NOT INTERESTED BUT THE FLOWERIST TOLD US THAT THERE IS RAELY A PURCHASE BEING MADE THROUGH THE STORE IT'S ALL FROM ORDER BASIS. THEN TOO WE TRIED TO ATTRACT THE CUSTOMERS TO OUR STORE SO THAT ATLEAST THEY GET TO KNOW HOW MUCH THE FLOWERS ARE COSTING. WE GOT SOME MORE FOUR - FIVE CUSTOMERS DURING THE DAY FOR A BOUQUET AND SOME PEOPLE FOR THE FLOWERS.



OVERALL IT WAS A VERY NICE EXPERIENCE OR RATHER A VERY NICE LEARNING EXPERIENCE. I GOT TO KNOW THE VALUE OF MONEY, AND WHAT IS THE VALUE OF THE EVERY SINGLE PENNY THAT ONE EARNS THROUGH HIS HARDWORK
